Oh and on the sizing – again… that has been noted and we are adding it to our bug/feature requests. Thanks. |

Great feedback – thanks alot… in fact any and all feedback of this sort is highly valued – so keep it coming. Given that we’re still early public beta there are a number of areas of pedalr that are rough at best. I will take a look through the checkout experience with a fresh set of eyes and post our recommended fix back to this thread. The nice thing about the pedalr system is that it doesnt really lock users into a purchase until it is completed through paypal or google checkout which themselves have a safety valve for errant or incorrect purchases – so we have a few layers of user error before things get sticky. We definitely appreciate the feedback and will be taking a close look at your suggestions. Again any other suggestion you may have are welcomed – perhaps we can get you a t-shirt or a pedalr ARTCRANK poster in return for your help. Thanks again bro. |

Well, every online shopping experience I’ve ever had contains something along the lines of a “by clicking here your are confirming that you would like to purchase this item” page so that’s what I was expecting to see, hence my surprise. I’m not a total idiot when it comes to things of the interweb nature, but I was genuinely surprised that I had bought something. So if you want to keep things really simple, how about a line of text or something near the “Check Out” button that says something along the lines of “By clicking ‘checkout’ you are agreeing to terms of payment and confirming that you are purchasing….cough up the cash sucka.” Make it blatantly obvious so there are no questions “Did I just order this? Will I order this if I click again?” [I see that you have something like I suggested at the top of the checkout page. Maybe put something next to checkout button at the bottom too? People’s brains are easily distracted by shiny objects so by the time they’re done reading what they’re purchasing, checking sizes, deciding where it should be shipped, maybe they just need a gentle reminder?] -does that all make sense? or am I rambling by this point? Another feature idea, can you make an option where sellers can restrict payment to just Paypal? That would be awesome. Thanks. |

Cool, thanks for the feedback. We definitely need to work on more options when listing items such as sizes, currencies, etc. We’re continuing to gather feedback and then implementing popular and useful features suggested by our community. For purchasing at the mo once you click “buy this item” you have then have to confirm the shipping address and payment method, then click “check out”. Only once you click “check out” is the order completed. Do you think we need another step? Our initial thoughts were to keep things as simple as poss but we’re open to suggestions on how to improve. Thanks again for the input. |

When listing sized items, such as shirts, could you make a drop down menu (or something similar) where we could specify what sizes are available? Also, apparently I just ordered a coozie from Stevil (even though I never confirmed the purchase). How bout a ‘confirm order’ page? Or at least a page that tells you that “by clicking the ‘confirm order’ button, you are placing an order.”???? |

Thanks Jamez. We’re very close to opening up to public beta, then will start our marketing efforts to build the community. We’ve kept it all a bit quiet for now but when we open up to anyone we’ll start ramping up. Thanks for your continued support and get ready to spread the pedalr word when we’re public in the very near future! |

hmm… I do think in order to make this site somewhat more popular, ads are necessary. for example on bike / cult blogs |

Hey James Working through a bundle of revisions – we’re going to open the site up to everyone on our mailing list and a broader group within the next week and half. Thanks for hanging in there – you got anything else to sell? |

I think a “wish list” and a “watch / shopping list” could go hand in hand with the site… |

Thanks Ryan and James – noted on the RSS bug. I am working on the user experience for faceted search, and navigation to categories of site users and bikes and products. I am also working on the list item process as well. James – yeah, for the next round we’ll be adding the direct message to seller functionality – which will use pedalr as the message intermediary – kind of like when one posts a comment on an item currently. What do you guys think about a “wish list”? Personally I want to create a list of all cycling related items I am looking for? We have it in the forum, but I personally would like to see it added at the profile level. We’ve got a couple additional cool features we’ll fill ya in on as soon as they are baked. Thanks for the feedback guys. Much appreciated. |

I think there should be some way to be able to contact the seller on a certain product they’re selling to ask questions (and try to haggle)… |

From a search result page, I tried to add the RSS feed to NetNewsWire (Mac), but received the error via NNW: “could not find a feed”. |

At first run-through, I was expecting to be able to sort by price range in the Shop section. I found it in the Advanced Search options, which works great. I think once more items are added for sale, it might make more sense to have this added as a top-level search filter rather than in the advanced panel. Having said that, I really like the design of the listings themselves: Title and price – nice and clean. |

Yeah totally agree… For speed to market we started with state, we’ll be adding city(town) and zip code search for better local targeting. We like the range scale as well (biking distance). |

i now see that you can actually filter by state, which is close to what i suggested. still it doesn’t help me if someone in Buffalo is selling something I want but need to check out before committing to – that’s a long drive. |

make proximity a variable when searching for items. it seems to me that you’re trying to bridge the gap between craigslist and ebay – which provide vastly different markets to wheelers & dealers. for instance, where I live it makes a lot more sense to use ebay (no craigslist presence on eastern long island) – but if i was in SF or Boulder or Brooklyn then craigslist might be better. but this site could possibly provide solutions for both me and some hipster in Portland, right? so it might be nice if, when searching for something, a user was able to say “within driving distance” (100 miles?) or “within biking distance” (20 miles?) to limit their search. |
